Default New UK cookie law

Hello there
Is there anyway of making a storesprite store compliant with the new UK law on cookie consent? I cannot find anything on the forum and not even sure if the law is going to apply to us?

Storesprite has disabled reputation
Default

Storesprite itself only delivers a required session cookie which does not store any personally identifiable information and is only valid for the duration of the site visit. There are rumours that cookies like these are going to be exempt as they are required for the operation of the site. Without it you could not have a shopping basket or an account.

Storesprite as a default install has 'add this' in the footer and 3 social media links in the product display pages. These may drop their own cookies and should be mentioned in your privacy/cookie policy if you keep them on your live store.

If we were in charge of deploying the stores like a hosted ecommerce provider, then we would have a degree of control over third party cookie delivery and we would have released something. The trouble is that every vendor is different, what 3rd party code you add to your site, someone else might not.

At the moment we advise people who want to do something right now to look at tools like this (see below) that provide a simple to deploy mechanism:

http://www.civicuk.com/cookie-law/index

We will shortly provide our own example code and instructions on how to deploy it, however, site owners would still need to perform their own audit for anything that we don't cover and we will only cover what is in the default release.

I hope this helps.
